With grant funding and support from the Philadelphia Autism Project, Let’s Go Outdoors is putting a spin on Social Language groups for children, ages 13 -16, and taking them outdoors! This information session will give a general overview and logistics of this pilot, FREE, program, as well as allow teens and facilitator(s) a chance to meet and interact. Teens, along with a responsible adult caregiver, can join us for games and socializing, for up-to 4 sessions that will take place during the months of August and September.
The following is the schedule:
SATURDAYS, 1:00PM-2:00PM
September 14th and 28th – Social Language Sessions
The general format of each session will include a short indoor part focusing on a skill for the day, a walk to our outdoor location to interact and use our skill(s), and a closing/review portion. This program is geared toward children who are on the higher level of Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger’s. Students must be able to follow directions at a middle/high school level, use verbal language to communicate effectively for their age, and want to socialize with other kids of similar age.
